Windshield wipers are a key safety item on your vehicle that you shouldn’t neglect. Over time, the rubber degrades, which reduces your wiper blades’ effectiveness. To inspect your windshield wipers, lift up the wiper blade arms and take a close look at the rubber blades. If you see cracking, fraying, and/or distortion, that is a good sign your wiper blades need to be replaced. Additionally, if you get streaking, squeaking, or just find your wiper blades ineffective, you should consider replacement.
Replacing the windshield wipers on your Porsche Panamera is super simple. Before you begin, check out the video from the YouTube channel, Trevor Campbell, to get an overview of how to put your wipers in “service mode”. This is an important first step so you don’t damage your vehicle. Detailed step-by-step instructions and parts and tools required can be found below.
Step 1: Initiate wiper service mode
- Turn the ignition on for at least 5 seconds, and then turn it off
- Briefly push the windshield wiper stalk down
- Windscreen wipers will raise halfway up and stay there
Step 2: Replace front windshield wiper blades
- As shown in the video from 1A Auto Parts, raise each wiper arm and locate a square button on the arm bracket.
- Press the button with your finger and slide the wiper out with other hand.
- Install the new wiper blade by sliding it into the arm bracket. You should hear a click as the square button pops into place.
- Repeat these steps for the other front wiper blade.
Step 3: Return front wipers into normal mode
- Turn the ignition on.
- Briefly push the windshield wiper stalk down and wipers will return to their usual location.
Step 4: Replace rear wiper blade
- If your vehicle has a rear wiper blade, start by lifting the wiper arm off of the glass.
- As shown in the video from mypcblewup, disengage the wiper blade by squeezing the two plastic tabs together, then twist off the wiper blade.
- Insert the new windshield wiper blade in the same fashion.
