Description
Sound
The ECG Performance Exhaust was designed to give 997 owners the best of both worlds. It’s quiet when you need it to be and tastefully aggressive when you want to experience your 997. Our X-pipe design merges exhaust gasses from both banks of the engine to create a higher pitched, more exotic exhaust note. With the exhaust valves open, the ECG Performance exhaust has an aggressive, exotic tone that isn’t obnoxious. It’s loud enough for you to feel connected with the car while still being able to cruise around without any drone. Want to fly under the radar? Just close the exhaust valves and your 997 will be nearly as quiet as stock.
Performance
The ECG Performance valved exhaust wasn’t just designed to sound good. It was also designed to increase horsepower and torque. While the prevailing wisdom in the Porsche 997 community is that you don’t gain power from adding a catback exhaust, our system allows the exhaust gasses to flow better. The end result? Max gains of 10.34 wheel horsepower (WHP) and 9.91 ft-lbs of torque and peak gains of 7.84 WHP and 9.08 ft-lbs of torque. While these gains aren’t huge, they’re pretty impressive considering no ECU tuning was performed. Larger gains are possible with ECU tuning. Dyno results below:
With the valves closed, the 997.2 produced similar horsepower and torque figures throughout most of the power band, but it did lose ~8 peak WHP. Given we were shooting for the “valves closed” mode to sound similar to stock exhaust, these results were expected. In the real world, there is no noticeable different in performance with the valves closed versus the stock exhaust. With the valves opened though, the extra ~16 WHP and ~9 ft-lbs of torque, paired with intoxicating exhaust sound, is noticeable. Dyno results below:
Quality
Our exhausts are built from high-quality 304 stainless steel, mandrel bent, tig welded, and triple quality checked to ensure perfect fitment and durability. In addition, our exhaust system includes stainless steel mounting hardware (exhaust bolts) and Porsche OEM exhaust gaskets.
Weight Savings
Installation
The ECG Performance exhaust is DIY friendly. Our systems come with detailed instructions, a DIY video you can follow, and even an S-wrench to help remove your old exhaust system. In addition, our remote-operated valve system makes installation easier by eliminating the need to run wires from inside the cabin to the engine bay.
