Windshield wipers are a key safety item on your vehicle that you shouldn’t neglect. Over time, the rubber degrades, which reduces your wiper blades’ effectiveness. To inspect your windshield wipers, lift up the wiper blade arms and take a close look at the rubber blades. If you see cracking, fraying, and/or distortion, that is a good sign your wiper blades need to be replaced. Additionally, if you get streaking, squeaking, or just find your wiper blades ineffective, you should consider replacement.
While generic windshield wipers work, we recommend going with OE equivalent wipers. For an overview of the procedure, check out the video above from YouTube channel, CarFanatic. You can find the parts and detailed instructions below.
Step 1: Replace the front windshield wipers.
- Lift up each windshield wiper arm.
- Carefully remove plastic cap covering where windshield wiper insert into arm.
- Rotate the windshield wiper up, then slide it out.
- Insert your new windshield wiper.
- Re-install the plastic cap.
- Repeat for the other windshield wiper arm.
Step 2: Replace the rear windshield wiper.
Here’s an overview from the YouTube channel HowToDoYourself and step-by-step instructions:
- Lift the rear wiper blade up.
- Grab the rear wiper blade near the center where it pivots and simply pull it out.
- Insert the new wiper blade and ensure it pops firmly into place.
- Clean up your work area. You’re all done!

Its easy to replace the wiper blades but not so easy to get rid of the squeak

Hi Karan. You likely have a dirty windshield. Give it a thorough scrub with dishwashing soap and, if needed, try using this Griot’s windshield clay to remove any remaining contaminants. https://amzn.to/3hoAjF3
